The Balearic Islands are mostly known for one thing. I was surprised what else it had to offer.
We went for closing weekend in September 2025. My friend planned everything down to the most tiny detail. It all started with the house. Once you see this place you will commit immediately.

To Stay
H, Patty, and I came the weekend before the rest of the group so we could explore more of the island. With the group we stayed on the west coast, our pre-trip was on the east coast. We rented a car from the airport for the pre-trip and drove ourselves around. The weather was mostly monsoon rain which sucked but with climate change nothing is guaranteed. In the villa we had our rentals but mostly arranged transportation as there were 16 of us. Nothing is close and nothing is walkable. Veronica literally hooked us up everywhere everyday.

To Party
The club scene is truly insane. We had tickets to Rufus Du Sol at Pacha. We choose VIP which came with a couple drinks and access to the upstairs area. Seeing how crowded and trapped the bottom looked, I was glad we paid more. Rufus didn’t even go on until 4am. If you thought the Spanish ate late…
Some friends went to [UNVRS] IBIZA, the super club. We went to Nido, the dive club. The music is everywhere and the DJs are good. Considering the competition you have to be. We went out in old town one night. There are cool rooftop bars with views of the city walls. One of the first places I had no cultural or historical context.

To Explore
There is actually much more to the island than just clubs. We hired two boats one day and prayed for sun. We got lucky and swam all around the islands. The water is incredible and the sunset from out there is stunning. Formentera is the island they take you out to, complete with nude beaches just south of Ibiza.
Other beaches worthwhile to explore are Cala Tarida, Cala Comte or Benirràs. You could truly come to this island just to hike, swim, and eat.

To Eat
Some of the best meals I have ever had were on this island. When the weather was unceasing rain. We drove to Aubergine Ibiza for a late lunch.
- Estel
- Monkey
- Bodega Can Rich – recommended to me by a cabbie
- Restaurante Can Yucas
- Jondal
- Casa Maca – the mejor de la mejor
- Tirapallà – fun rooftop bar
I left Ibiza 10 days later more tired than I had ever been. Being 36 and partying this hard for that long is not for the weak. But the core memories of dancing to Innerbloom at Pacha, singing as the sunset on the speed boat, drinking incredible wine and eating insane steak at Casa Maca, and negotiating cab rides down our rocky road in Spanish will live in my head forever.
