When I moved to Australia I fell into a girl gang. LivingSocial, my first job, is forever connecting me all over the world and this was no different. What started in Sydney continued as people moved. 10 years ago most of them met, I was a late addition. This group is down for a google doc, a theme, and a get away. After brainstorming far too many places to celebrate we landed on Sedona, Arizona. Known for vortexes, hiking, and strict noise ordinances, we starting planning.

Ash designed a logo for crewneck sweaters and printed stickers for reusable cups. I found a DIY Barbie box design and a local silent disco company. H found a wine and beer tour and dinner reservations.

Day 1

From the Phoenix airport Sedona is 3 hours away. It was worth it to come the day before so we could all drive the minibus together. After a grocery stop and a home depot stop where we off. We stopped for tacos and enjoyed our first night amongst the red rocks and stars.

Day 2

Sedona is about spirituality and connectivity. The vortexes here are known to be powerful. To start the trip off we hired Dorrina to host a sound bath mediation with us. She brought everything and set it up in our living room with the mountain peaks in the background. Everyone shared and cried and felt open to the beauty of the place.

From that peaceful morning we break away to hike the Devil’s bridge. The heat, dry climate, and incline get you but the views of these red rocks sprinkled with green trees are worth it. We join the queue of people at the end patiently taking pictures of one another on the thin rock bridge with the stunning valley behind.

Activity – Devil’s Bridge trail

Back at the house, we guzzled water and changed for the night. We went to a lovely dinner and then bar hopped around Sedona.

Restaurants – Shorebird Sedona, Sundowner

Day 3

This day was dedicated to the verde valley around Sedona. We booked a private tour for the 11 of us plus a baby. We dressed up cute and headed out on tour. The wine was delicious, the views beautiful, and the stops diverse enough to keep our group entertained. Our tour guide hung with us at every stop not entirely sure what to make of us.

Activity – Sedona & Verde Valley Tour: Wine, Beer, Raw Chocolate, & Lunch, Merkin Vineyards Tasting Room & Osteria, The Public Taproom, Oak Creek Vineyards & Winery, Up the Creek Bistro & Wine Bar

Day 4

Some of the girls had been hiking every day, I skipped yesterday but joined today. There was a hike walking distance from the house that was a known vortex. We walk quickly on the curving roads and gladly exit to the trail. The gravel beneath our feet and the sun already high in the sky, we climb up and up. At the top of the view point we channel the vortex and make our requests to the universe.

Activity – Airport Mesa

If hiking the red rocks isn’t your thing, there are some crazy drivers who can get you there. We joined a tour of Broken Arrow, and area where off roading is more than just 4 wheel drive, it is a rollercoaster. In the back of an open air Jeep our driver vaults us along rocks I would never have thought to drive up. We learned about fault lines and old westerns all while trying to keep our seats.

Activity – Pink Jeep Tours

It is October 2023, the Barbie movie is all anyone is talking about. Naturally our last night themed party is Barbie. With the boxes, spray paint, and cut out letters we built our own box. We snacked on a delicious cheese board with Hello Gorgeous napkins. The photoshoots were hilarious and the outfits too creative. I was Sleeping Barbie and she comes with a robe and eye mask. Carly cooked us a thai dinner with pink rice. As the sunset we transitioned to our evening theme, Alien Disco. For H’s birthday we had the silent disco ready and the hot tub on. We danced under the stars respecting the strict noise restrictions.

The hikes are endless in Sedona, which ones did I miss?
